Directions for posting to the NJLA Blog

1. Go to http://blog.njla.org/mt.cgi

2. Enter your user name and password and click on "Log in."

3. On the next page, click on "Create a new entry on this weblog."

4. The next page has all the options for creating a blog entry.  There are a number of fields and customization choices.  It is only necessary to complete four items: Title, Category, Entry Body, and Save.

5. Enter a title for your posting in the Title field.  Then use the Category dropdown menu to select a category for your posting.

You can also add a new category.

If you wish to assign more than one category, click on the link for "Assign Multiple Categories."

A menu with checkboxes will appear.  Check off as many categories as you need.

6. Enter your posting in the "Entry Body" box.  You can do some formatting and add links using the buttons above the box.

7. At the bottom of the page are two buttons for "Save" and "Preview."  If you are confident you may save without previewing.  Otherwise click on "Preview."

The page that opens up will show you how your posting will appear.  If you are content with the posting, click on "Save this entry."  If you wish to make changes, click on "Re-Edit this entry" and you will be brought back to the Edit page.  Re-edit and preview until you are satisfied with the appearance of your entry, then save.  You're done!

Making Changes After an Entry is Posted

1. Modifying a post after it is already on the blog

If you've put up a post and wish to make a modification, you can continue to edit the article.  From the start page, click on "Entries (#)."

You will see a list of the postings that you have created.  Click on the link for the item you wish to change, and edit and save as you did when you first created it.

2. Deleting a comment

If a comment appears on one of your postings that is inappropriate (for example, if a spammer manages to insert an advertisement), you can delete the comment.  From the start page, click on "Comments."  You will only see the comments from your posts.

Check the box next to the comment you wish to delete.  Then click on the "Delete" button.

There are several optional features that are not included in this tutorial.  If you would like to use these features and have questions on them, contact Maureen Wynkoop, the blogmaster.
