An Evening of Book Lust with Nancy Pearl
Monday, April 19
Speaker: Nancy Pearl
Seattle librarian Nancy Pearl is the author of Book Lust: Recommended
Reading for Every Mood, Moment and Reason. She was the
inspiration for the Librarian Action Figure developed by Archie McPhee.
Currently she serves as Director of the Washington Center for the Book
at the Seattle Public Library, where she created the program, "If
All of Seattle Read the Same Book." She is author
of several profressional books for librarians, including Now
Read This. Pearl's book review program airs weekly on Seattle's
NPR affiliate, KUOW. She lives in Seattle with her husband.
A Book Signing will follow this special event and Librarian
Action Figures will be available in the NJLA Store!
Garden State Book Awards Luncheon
Tuesday, April 20
Speaker: Jennifer Armstrong
Jennifer Armstrong, award winning author of both fiction and non-
fiction books for children and young adults, will share stories of her
writing life, as well as details from her recent trip to Antartica. Her
fiction includes: The Fire-Us Trilogy for young adults, The Dreams of
Maire Mehan and Maire Mehan Awake for middle school readers, and
Sunshine Moonshine for beginning readers. Her non-fiction includes:
Spirit of Endurance: The True Story of the Shackleton Expedition to the
Antarctic, and, Shipwreck at the Bottom of the World.
College & University Section/ACRL Chapter Luncheon
Tuesday, April 20
Speaker: Tyrone Cannon
Tyrone Cannon, president of the Association of College
and Research
Libraries, is the Dean of University Libraries at the University of San
Francisco. His previously held positions at Boston College, Oklahoma
State University, and Columbia University. Before becoming a librarian,
Mr. Cannon was a social worker.
