1) "NJ Courts - At Your Service for Legal Information!"
Presenters: Betty Agin, Court Librarian/Ombudsman
Middlesex County Courts and Henry Gozdz, Court Librarian, Bergen County Courts

Abstract: What legal informational services are freely available to you and your libraries from the courts? Two County Law Librarians will discuss the various types of legal resources available at the court libraries and other agencies. This will include court publications, information on court services, legal form packets, websites, bargain legal publications recommended for public libraries and even "do's and don'ts" for legal reference service.

2) "What You're Missing ... at NJLA.org"
Presenters: Joanne Kares, Director
Morris County Library and members of the NJLA Professional Development Committee

Abstract: Highlights the NJLA Web site and its essential resources for libraries: Salary guidelines, Basic job descriptions: Director, Library Assistant, System Administrator etc.; Guidelines to Assist Librarians with Requests for confidential Library Records; Guidelines for Developing a Policy on Unattended Children; Core Competencies: Librarian, Reference and Information Services, etc.

3) "BCALA-NJ: The Future of New Jersey Librarianship"
Presenters: Nicole Cooke, Montclair State University; Trevor Dawes, Princeton University; and Christopher Lee, Seton Hall University.

Abstract: This session will highlight the new Black Caucus of the American Library Association New Jersey Chapter (BCALA-NJ), which serves as an advocate for the development, promotion, and improvement of library services and resources to the state's African American community, and provides leadership for the recruitment, networking, professional development, and mentoring of librarians and library staff. 4) "Wanted: Librarians To Be a Part of the NJLA Mentor Program"
Presenter: Sharon Goldschneider, Reference Librarian
Monroe Township Public Library, Chair of the NJLA Mentor Program,
Professional Development Committee

Abstract: This poster session will provide a description of the NJLA Mentor Program. Applications will be available for both Mentors and Mentees. The chair of the program will be present to answer any questions and discuss the options available to those interested in participating.

5)"Who's Counting? Using the US Census to Introduce Information Literacy in a Beginning Statistics Course"
Presenter: Ruth Hamann, Reference Librarian, Passaic County Community College

Abstract: This poster will describe an innovative program to fulfill a Middle States mandate to integrate information literacy into academic programs. It will focus on the collaboration between a Librarian and a Mathematics Faculty member to design and develop an engaging hands-on project using US Census software to introduce Beginning Statistics students at Passaic County Community College to statistical databases.

6) “New Jersey Knowledge Initiative: What You Should Know”
Presenter: Susan Kaplan, NJ State Library

Abstract: This poster session will provide updates and describe the New Jersey Knowledge Initiative, which provides statewide access to proprietary science, technology, and business databases. The program website is http://www.njki.org

7) “Making IT Simple!: The NJLA Information Technology Section”
Presenter: Jessica Unger, President, NJLA ITS.

Abstract: Learn how the new NJLA ITS provides opportunities for members to exchange information and gain firsthand perspectives on technologies being used and how they impact libraries.
