Howard McGinn

Howard F. McGinn, Ph.D. is Dean of University Libraries at Seton Hall University. His career is divided between service in librarianship and in corporate management. Past positions in librarianship include State Librarian of North Carolina, City Librarian of New Haven, CT., Director of the Emporia (KS) Public Library and Dean of University Libraries at Clarion University of Pennsylvania. Corporate positions held include General Manager of the New York Times Company's Microfilming Corporation of America and National Media Sales Manager for the J.B. Lippincott Publishing Company.

McGinn has served as an adjunct faculty member in the schools of library science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central University and Emporia State University and in the Lundy-Fetterman School of Business at Campbell University.

He is the author of over 40 journal articles and book chapters. Professional activities have included Chair of the Affirmative Action Committee for BCALA, Member of the ALA's Spectrum Advisory Committee and President of the NC Chapter of SLA. McGinn has been recognized by the General Assemblies of Connecticut and Pennsylvania for his work in civil rights. He holds a B.A. in Philosophy from Villanova University, an M.S.L.S. from Drexel University, an M.B.A. from Campbell University and a Ph.D. in Information Management from Emporia State University. He is currently completing an M.A. in Theology at Seton Hall.
