HONORS & AWARDSThe New Jersey Library Association recognizes many awards for excellence. Each year we select best books, excellence in libraries including the Librarian of the Year designation, Public Relations and Journalism honorees as well as awards to students pursuing library studies. Children's & Teen Book AwardsThis Garden State Book Awards was established in 1977 to honor books for young readers. The annual children's awards honors children's titles in the following categories: Easy to Read, Easy to Read Series, Children's Fiction and Children's Nonfiction. The annual teen awards are given in the following categories: Fiction (Grades 6-8), Fiction (Grades 9-12) and Nonfiction. Awards to Libraries & OrganizationsNJLA strives to honor libraries for exceptional service and contributions to their local communities and to the library community as a whole. There are a variety of individual awards given to those with outstanding or innovative contributions within the library and the community; awards to libraries for excellence through public relations, marketing, and technology; and awards to recognize journalistic coverage of important library events. ScholarshipsScholarships are offered for study leading to a graduate or postgraduate degree in librarianship. Awards are made on an evaluation of credentials and personal interviews with candidates. All awards are to be used for a graduate library education program that allows the graduate eligibility for a New Jersey Professional Librarian Certificate. Previous applicants and recipients are eligible to apply. |
