DUTIES

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: The John Cotton Dana Library at Rutgers-Newark
is seeking an innovative, energetic service-oriented librarian to join a team
of library faculty committed to providing first-rate public services to a diverse
academic community. This librarian will be responsible for facilitating access
to the collections and access-related services of the Dana Library. The Access
Services Librarian is responsible for planning, monitoring and evaluating access
services, including access desk information services, circulation, electronic
and print course reserves, collection management, and security and facilities
maintenance. This librarian is also responsible for maintaining and overseeing
the Dana Library Archives collection. In collaboration with the Dana Library
Director and the other members of the Library Faculty, participates in general

in the areas of Latin American and Sub-Sahara African studies, monitoring global
collection development collaborations and trends, new forms of scholarly communication,

Description
The Chester County Library, Exton, seeks a Library Director. The person in
this position reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for overseeing
the operation of the Exton Library (following policies set forth by the County
and Library System). This person also administers the goals and objectives
of the Library according to the Chester County Library Strategic Plan. The
position provides leadership, supervision and direction to all staff.
Requires A.L.A.-accredited MLS, 3-5 years progressive job related experience,
preferably in a public library. Successful candidate will have familiarity
with current best practices, principles of library administration, budget
preparation and management; knowledge of standard databases and PC operation;

The Lake Hiawatha Branch Library is seeking a customer-service oriented, flexible
self-starter with knowledge of popular adult literature, and print and electronic
reference resources to become part of its reference team.
Duties include reference, reader's advisory service, and collection management.
Knowledge of JerseyCat and the Sirsi/Unicorn system are desirable. Hours include
two evenings and every other Saturday.
The applicant must have an MLS from an accredited library school. Experience
providing reference services preferred, but will consider an MLS student
completing his/her studies with relevant experience. The salary meets
NJLA standards.

PART TIME YOUTH SERVICES LIBRARIAN, MENDHAM TOWNSHIP LIBRARY
Position Description: The Mendham Township Library is seeking an energetic,
creative person to provide library services and children’s programming
to children and teens in our small community 20 hours per week.
Position Requirements: Seeking Hardworking and efficient individual who is
able to work without supervision. Must be customer service oriented and able
to
work well with the children
and the public. Knowledge of children's/YA literature and previous experience
working with children are important. Strong computer skills and experience
using library catalog/circulation a plus. An ALA accredited MLS and a NJ
Professional Librarian certificate is required. Hours are flexible, and include
one weekday late afternoon or early evening, and one Saturday a month. Please

CHILDREN'S LIBRARIAN, FULL TIME, SOUTH BRUNSWICK PUBLIC LIBRARY
South Brunswick Public Library is looking for a flexible and enthusiastic children’s
librarian with a sense of humor, strong communication and organizational skills,
and who values teamwork to join our energetic and motivated team in the Children’s
Department. We proudly provide excellent services in a diverse community of library-lovers.
Our ideal candidate will work with two other full-time children’s librarians
and six part-time staff, be responsible for providing reference assistance
and instruction to patrons, reader’s advisory, programming, collection
development, promoting library services and outreach programs such as school
visits, along with other duties as assigned.
Requirements: NJ Librarian’s certificate and MLS from an ALA accredited
program; must have course work in children’s literature and library service
to children; experience working with children preferred.
Hours: This is a full time 35 hours/week position, with one evening per week
and rotational Saturday and Sunday scheduling.
Salary: $45315 for 2008; 2009 salary under negotiation. Excellent benefits,

LIBRARIAN, ATLANTIC COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM
The Atlantic County Library System has 2 openings for qualified individuals for
the position of Librarian. These are entry level positions in a Library System
of 10 branches.
The first position is for a generalist and performs a variety of services
for the public at one of our branches. Some examples include: reference work,
programming, book selection and readers’ advisory.
The other position is in our Information and Technical Services Section. Candidates
should have knowledge of Cataloging, Acquisitions, and Serials.
Salary is $35,000 for a 37.5 hour work week. This includes a combination of
day, night, weekend and holiday hours. Excellent benefits package.
MLS degree required, as well as a New Jersey State Professional Librarian
Certificate, or the
credentials to obtain one.
