SUPERVISING LIBRARIAN, PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Parsippany-Troy Hills Public Library is seeking a full-time enthusiastic, creative knowledgeable, service oriented and well organized Supervising Librarian to supervise a team of professional children’s librarians as they work together to meet the educational, technological and recreational needs of children, their caregivers and the educational community.
Primary responsibilities of the position include:
- managing the day-to-day operations of the Children’s Department of the Main Library
- supervising, scheduling and evaluating staff
- preparing department budget and monthly report
- overseeing the planning, scheduling and implementation of programs for children, including story times, after school programs, summer reading program, class visits, book discussions and group tours

Qualifications of the position:

SUPERVISING LIBRARIAN, TECHNICAL SERVICES DEPT, HADDONFIELD PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Haddonfield Public Library is seeking a customer –service oriented and tech savvy librarian to supervise its Technical Services Dept. We are looking for an energetic, flexible, enthusiastic person to supervise cataloging, collection development, and to guide the library’s expansion of digital collections and newer technologies to meet our community’s 21st century expectations. Joining our team provides an opportunity to collaborate innovatively to bring the Haddonfield community new library services and programs. You will need excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and technology skills. Duties include some maintenance of our website and systems administration. Familiarity with Polaris is a plus.
The position is part-time – 25 hours a week. The benefits package includes vacation, holiday and sick leave on a prorated basis. This position does not include health insurance. Continuing professional development and educational opportunities are provided, including membership in NJLA. Salary meets the NJLA recommended salary guidelines.

Minimum requirements:

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, WILTON LIBRARY (Connecticut)
Wilton Library—the Center for Discovery in the Heart of the Community--seeks an Executive Director to help continue and enhance the Library’s successful role as the creative, cultural, and intellectual destination of the community. The Wilton Library, http://www.wiltonlibrary.org/, a non-profit Association Library located in the center of the town of Wilton, CT, serves a community of 18,200 residents. The Library circulated 365,123 items in FY2011 and is ranked #4 among comparably sized towns in Connecticut Magazine.
In addition to providing traditional library services, the Wilton Library successfully transitioned to its mission of providing the Wilton community with outstanding adult and children’s programming, vital teen services, and public fine arts and performing arts spaces. The Library collaborates with local government and businesses and has become the “go to” place for local history knowledge, meeting room spaces and digital connections (as seen during the recent significant power outages in Fall 2011). Consisting of a single facility (50,384 sq. ft. building with a new addition completed in 2006), the Library is poised to move forward building on its successes. The new Executive Director will work with a committed staff (31 FTEs), an energetic core of volunteers, an established donor group, a dedicated community and a $3.3 million budget to deliver quality services. The challenge for the next Executive Director will be to move forward on the Library's new strategic plan (currently under development) leveraging strong community relationships and partnerships while developing alternate funding streams to continue the outstanding levels of service and programs.

Responsibilities. The Executive Director reports to a 24-member Library Board of Trustees and works with the Board, staff, and major stakeholders to establish the strategic vision for the Library aligning the Library’s mission, goals and objectives with the community’s needs and priorities. The Executive Director’s primary responsibilities are to maintain an outstanding library that anticipates and fulfills the needs of its community utilizing all resources available. Qualifications. LIBRARY DIRECTOR, ORANGE PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Director is the administrator of the library whose principal role is to lead the library and carry out policies established by the Board of Trustees in order to achieve the library’s goal as determined by the Board. Based on authority derived from the Board and the laws of the State of New Jersey, the director plans, organizes and administers the operation of the library while constantly evaluating library operations and reporting back to the Board with recommendations to improve, strengthen or otherwise enhance library service to the community. The position organizes library operations, provides direction to all staff, determines level of services provided to the public, provides community programs and public events, and oversees the management and maintenance of facility and technology throughout the Library.
All library employees report to the Director, the Director reports to the Board.
Essential Functions of the Job
- Reviews, formulates and recommends policies and policy revisions to the Board for approval
- Implements board-established policies within the library and with library patrons
- Interprets library policies and rules to the staff and general public
- Recruits, hires, trains and supervises all employees and provides a written annual performance review to the employee and for her personnel file
- Prepares for and attends board meetings; conducts staff meetings; arranges for staff in-service training
- Works to create a friendly environment in the library where values such as intellectual freedom, respect for learning and culture, respect for all people, equal access to information, and maintenance of quiet space for study and reading are maintained
- Studies and knows the community, including key community leaders, in order to deliver a balanced range of library services appropriate to the needs of all City of Orange residents
- Communicates the value of the public library and information services in the community through public speaking to community groups, and through written communications
- Establishes and maintains effective work relationships with individual board members, the Board as a whole, township officials, township departmental personnel, the leadership of Friends of the Library, other community organizations, the schools and school-related groups, professional associates beyond The City of Orange, and the general public.

DIRECTOR, LINCOLN PARK PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Lincoln Park Public Library seeks an energetic and innovative new director. The library is a member of the M.A.I.N., Inc. consortium of 37 libraries and is located in Morris County, New Jersey. The director works with a 7 member Board of Trustees. The director plans, administers, and evaluates library services. The director is responsible for the hiring, supervision, assignment and retention of library staff. Together with the Board of Trustees the director works on policies, goals and objectives, the budget, maintenance of the building, and the creation of a strategic plan. He or she should also have an excellent knowledge of technology and must keep abreast of the latest library issues and trends. The director must maintain and enhance positive community relations and possess excellent communication skills.
An MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited institution is required as is a NJ Professional Librarian certificate. Candidates should have at least 3 years of administrative experience in public libraries.
