Abstract: The Circle of Sound NJLA 2007 Poster Session introduces digital playaways and their use in a community outreach program at Pemberton Community Library. Digital playaways are books on MP3, which can be used with earphones for single listening or for group listening with speakers. The playaway can be put into a pocket or worn around the neck. It is the simplest way to listen to an audio book on the go. Through the funding of the New Jersey State Library and the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Pemberton Community Library is providing digital playaway listening service to the community, Buttonwood Hospital and New Lisbon Developmental Center.
