Present: The May 4 meeting was cancelled; reports and announcements were submitted to the Secretary via email and are summarized below.

President’s Report — Nicole Cooke

• Nicole is preparing the annual chapter report to submit to ACRL.

• Bill Walker, our Membership Chair, has accepted a new professional position and will be relocating to NY.  We thank him for his enthusiasm and service. Jessica Vanderhoff of Essex County Community College will assume the position in July.  She will be working with Karen Topham to relocate the ACRL-NJ listserv from Seton Hall to Brookdale.

• For the June board meeting, please come with suggestions/recommendations for ways the chapter can meet "virtually" and use new technologies in the future.  NJLA would like to establish best practices and compile a list by December 2007.  Nicole has asked Nancy Madacsi to bring information about chat meetings.

• We now have access to the NJLA blog.  For the present, anyone wanting to submit something can contact Nicole or Julie Maginn.  We will need to discuss how we want to handle this in the future: do we need a "blogmaster"?  Should it go to the membership chair?

• The final board meeting of the year will be at Montclair State University's Cafe Diem (the library's cafe) on June 1, 2007, from 10am-12pm.  This meeting will combine the outgoing and incoming elected board members and new committee chairs.  Let Nicole know if you plan to attend.

Committee Reports:

Research Committee — Sara Harrington and Triveni Kuchi

• Mark Thompson from Bergen Community College is the incoming Research Committee Chair for July 1, 2007 – June 30, 2009.

Technology Committee — Mary Mallery

• Powerpoint presentations for the Technology Innovation Forum at the NJLA conference have been posted on the NJLA College and University Section website at: http://www.njla.org/njacrl//2007TechInnovForum.html. • Next steps for the Technology Committee are:
  1. Elect the chair for next year. Mary is willing to serve for another two-year term. If anyone else would like to be Chair, email the Committee by May 16th, and there will be an election via email.
     
  2. Solicit new members for next year via the NJLA-CUS, ACRL-NJ and VALE listservs, and
     
  3. Schedule the next Technology Committee meeting in September/October.

  • The VALE 2008 planning committee will be meeting at TCNJ on May 22nd, from 10am-Noon.  Besides the co-chairs, Joan Getaz and Karen Topham, eleven people have volunteered to serve on the committee.
