  2. VALE Users Conference, Wed., 1/9/08: We have submitted a proposal for a Poster Session for our committee. Beth Bloom and Karen Pifher volunteered to man the booth during the day conference. Follow-up: Does Sara or Triveni have the tripart display board and materials used last year? Handouts: our two Calls; one page from our new website w/URL (hopefully it will be up).

  3. CALLS
    • Calls for Proposals and Nominations were finalized.
    • Plan for send-out: On listservs: NJ-SLA (Beth); VALE-L (Mark); InfoLink-L (Jose); HRLC-L (MT); PubLib (Karen), BCALA-NJ (Beth)
    • NJLA/ACRL: send to new ACRLNJ-L and NJLA-Sect-COL (formerly ACALIBS_NJ); also send note to Pat Tumulty, may put in NJLA-updates listserv
    • Also: newsletters; our website; and tell our colleagues
    • Schedule: Send out#1 (Nov. 5); Send out#2 (Jan. 2); Submissions due (Feb. 4);
    • Rubrics - We reviewed and revised our set of evaluation rubrics. Please review for the next meeting

  4. NJLA Program -- Should we consider sponsoring a second program at NJLA Annual (besides the Forum). This year's theme (April 29-May 1) is: “Valuing Libraries, Librarians and Library Staff.” We decided to focus our efforts instead on planning a 25th anniversary meeting in Spring 2010 (Dan O'Connor started in 1985). Follow-up: gather together our archives. Discuss with founders. Who has our archives? Ask Sara, Karen Hartmann. From Beth and Anita we have: List of Research Award winners and the citation for their publications from 1988 to 2003. Printout of our 2006 (collaboration) and 2007 (research in disciplines) NJLA Annual special sessions as they appeared in the program.

  5. Our website - We went thru final draft of our new website. With changes, it has been sent to Mary Mallory to upload. We still need content/pages for the following:
    • List of members was revised and will be sent to Mary
    • Need to build: Research Award pages and Research Forum pages
    • No one had past NJLA Annual programs or presentations. Do you?
    • Jose volunteered to build the first view of our Resources page.
    • Need e-version of minutes from Feb 07 and Oct 06.

  6. New award - We revised the draft for the new Electronic Publications Research Award. We are considering holding it this year, IF we can find a sponsor and agree on the final wording at our December meeting. Jose will ask UCC and Mark will ask BCC management to sponsor. Anita suggested contacting William Paterson to fund an award in honor of Amy Job. As with other years and the other awards, the key terms are still problamatic. Suggest finding a NJ library e-zine and researching the phrase "electronic publication."
    "published" = formalized publication; peer-reviewed; copyright 2007; reviewed by editor;
    "researched" = do subject guides qualify?
    "electronic" = does it include tutorials; manuscripts, subject guides, blogs, bibliographies, web pages? Consensus about innovative web pages etc. is that it goes to the Technology Award
    "NJ Librarian" - anyone employed by any library in NJ

  7. Attachments: Final calls; Revised rubrics; Membership list; Draft for new E-pub call.

NEXT MEETING: Friday, December 14, 2007 at 2pm, Seton Hall University. Agenda: discuss revised rubrics; finalize plans for new E-Pub Award; plan for NJLA Annual; review our new website.
