NJLA 2007 Conference Poster Sessions
Title:"Exploring the Universe @ your library: Using Science to Inspire Kids"
Presenter:Jessica Trujillo, Young Adult Librarian, New Brunswick Free Public Library.

Abstract:
In an urban community, the best efforts of the school system to excite students' interest in science are often not enough. To further support our community, the New Brunswick Free Public Library developed the Exploring the Universe @ your library program. The key goals of the program are to:
- Foster the natural curiosity of children to teach inquiry-based methods
that scientists use;
- Promote positive attitudes towards science, technology, engineering, and mathematics; and
- Augment existing library programs with a science component.
