Brief Job Overview/Summary

The Richard E. Bjork Library at Stockton University is seeking a Student Success Librarian, a tenure-track position. The Student Success Librarian is responsible for leading the library’s development of innovative and effective methods of engagement for a diverse population of undergraduate students at Stockton University. The successful candidate will be a collaborative and forward-thinking librarian with a commitment to student learning, who enjoys working with undergraduate students, especially those in their first two years of college, transfer students, non-traditional students, international students, and first-generation students. As a member of the library faculty, the selected candidate will provide general reference and instruction services to the broader University community, serve as a subject liaison, and participate in collection development.

The Student Success Librarian will collaborate with course instructors and campus partners, along with librarians to design and deliver integrated curriculum-based library and information literacy learning activities and services in multiple formats for diverse populations of undergraduate students. These may include but are not limited to EOF students and participants, LAP students and Participants, Global students and participants, commuters, and resident students. Participate in the provision of a full range of reference services to all library patrons. Engage and actively collaborate as a liaison to academic departments and undergraduate student programs. Develop user-centric resources and services and participating in orientation and outreach activities that increase students’ knowledge of library services and their ability to access information resources.

Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Be a Liaison with EOF students to instruct them in Information Literacies best practices
  • Serve as a Liaison with Global Education and international students to instruct them in information literacy best practices
  • Provide online and in person tutorials for all students in fundamental information literacy skills
  • Serve as a subject liaison for a particular segment of the Stockton University Curriculum
  • Develop muti-modality learning and research guides (LibGuides) in assigned area of the curriculum
  • Take responsibility for the weeding and revitalization of particular expert subject matter in the electronic and physical collection of the Bjork Library
  • Work with first year and general education course students on information literacy skills, and first year benchmarks I research skills
  • Establish a plan for advancing information and literacy skills for first and second year students
  • Assess and make plans for more effective first and second year information literacy and research skills
  • Attend campus wide committee and other meetings as directed by the Associate Provost for Library and Learning Commons
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or a master’s degree in a related field with experience in an academic, special, or research library setting
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective partnerships with students, faculty, and staff
  • Experience with reference and instruction including online environments
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team player skills
  • Knowledge of trends and services in academic libraries to support programs for undergraduate students
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Library instruction, reference, outreach, subject liaison, collection development, and assessment experience in an academic library
  • Experience designing and delivering engaging learning activities and services for diverse undergraduate student populations
  • Experience managing instructional resources in a learning management system such as Blackboard
  • Knowledge of trends and experience identifying and integrating open educational resources in an academic environment
  • Engagement with professional organizations, research, or publication
