Library Director, Phillipsburg Free Public Library, Phillipsburg

The Board of Trustees of Phillipsburg Free Public Library is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Library Director. The Library serves the 14,500 residents of the Town of Phillipsburg and employs a staff of five full time and six part time employees. The Director’s responsibilities include supervising staff, preparing and managing the budget, developing the library collection, overseeing building maintenance, working with community partners, fundraising, and strategic planning. The position results from the current Director’s retirement and will be available November 1, 2020.The position requires an MLS from an ALA-accredited graduate program and at least five years of professional library experience, two years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity. The successful applicant will have excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge of integrated library systems and of other technological developments in the library field, experience with budget preparation, knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, ability to work effectively with staff, Trustees, Town government, and community leaders. Experience in collection development is a must. A record of successful grant writing and/or fundraising is highly desirable. Candidate must pass a criminal background check.
