The Union City Public Library (Hudson County) is looking for a part-time Adult Services Librarian whose responsibilities include but are not limited to developing programming, providing reference services to a diverse community of patrons with different levels of literacy and/or technological abilities, and assisting patrons with basic computer tasks.

  • Effectively offering assistance in the informational needs of all ages, including computer support, reference, and readers advisory, with an emphasis on exceptional customer service
  • Planning, coordinating, executing, and evaluating programs that meet the interests and needs of adults in the community
  • Selecting and maintaining the adult print and non-print collections, with a focus on popular fiction, media, and digital resources
  • Interacting with community members in ways that aim to better understand the interests and needs of the community, and lead to improved programs and services
  • Representing the library at community events, supporting outreach and special projects
  • Master's Degree in Library Science (or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited program
  • NJ Professional Librarian's Certificate
  • Demonstrated experience in the following areas: customer service, reference and technology assistance, adult programming, collection development
  • Ability to communicate clearly, courteously, and effectively with library patrons and staff
  • Fluency in Spanish is highly desirable but not required
