National Library Week 2022
Connect with Your Library

The theme for National Library Week 2022, “Connect with Your Library,” promotes the idea that libraries are places to get connected to technology by using broadband, computers, and other resources. Libraries also offer opportunities to connect with media, programs, ideas, and classes—in addition to books. Most importantly libraries also connect communities to each other. Overall, the theme is an explicit call to action—an invitation for communities to join, visit, or advocate for their local libraries.

Did you know that what you do as a library worker makes a difference?
You empower people, and you change lives, everyday
You bring people together to exchange ideas and common interests, everyday
You encourage, and you put smiles on people’s faces, everyday
You connect people to knowledge and information, everyday
And you guide people to discoveries and opportunities, everyday

Thanks to you, library worker, many NJ children learn to read and enjoy learning
Thanks to you, library worker, our seniors enjoy meaningful engaging programs and activities
One and many found their roots through library genealogy services, thanks to you
The displaced worker discovered a new career, all thanks to you
The entrepreneurs found so many business resources that saved them money
The scholars got help with their research and quest for knowledge

Many NJ residents learned new skills, all because of you
Life’s joyful moments were empowered by the knowledge that you provide
And many simply came to your library because you provided a safe place to be
Your library is a trusted community resource, thanks to you
Your library is a one-stop-shop for all of life’s needs, all because of you
You serve the poor, the rich, the young, the old, and everyone else in between

I celebrate you, New Jersey Library worker
You are a beacon of light in the communities you serve
Thank you for being a compass to life’s destinations
Thank you for standing tall to defend the freedom to read
Thank you for serving New Jersey’s residents with compassion and kindness.
