NJLA Project Roadmap

Project roadmap

We're making improvements! To keep NJLA members up-to-date on what projects are in development and which are planned, we've put together this roadmap. Click the graphic to zoom in.

The overall goal is to make the entire NJLA ecosystem a destination for news, communication, and resources. This means making our systems more user-friendly, delivering timely news, sharing events and opportunities from NJLA and our sister organizations, making finding answers and information easier, and delivering resources relevant to you and your library. If you have suggestions for further improvements or features you'd like to see implemented in the future, please send an email to Alicia at [email protected].

What Happened
 Google storage (July 2022)
Shared Google drives were set up for every committee and section to store files for collaboration and archival purposes.

 Enhanced Institutional Memberships (October 2022)
Enhanced Institutional Memberships (EIM) opened for beta testing in October. As of the end of November, we have over 25 library organizations enrolled. EIM brings many benefits including NJLA membership for all staff. To learn more about Enhanced Institutional Memberships, visit njla.org/eim.

 STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS (LAUNCHING DECEMBER 2022)
Replacing the older commercial memberships, this reimagined strategic partner membership offers companies more ways of engaging with NJLA members along with a variety of promotional opportunities and annual conference benefits.

What's HAPPENING (projected completion dates)
 LEADERSHIP HUB (Q1 2023)
The new NJLA Leadership Hub is the solution to onboarding incoming leadership and providing resources for committee and section members. This will include an overview of the tools used by committees and sections, where to find policies and forms, inform leadership about procedures and protocols, how to update committee and section webpages, store documents, and answer your questions.

 CONFERENCE WEBSITE REDESIGN (Q1 2023)
The NJLA Conference website is getting a facelift and moving to WordPress.

 TUTORIALS (Q1 2023)
We are continuing to update and create tutorials for the various NJLA systems including Google Shared Drives, Google email, njlamembers.org, and Memberclicks. To view existing tutorials, visit our FAQs. To request a new tutorial, email Alicia at [email protected].

 GOOGLE ECOSYSTEM INTEGRATION (Q2 2023)
With the addition of Google Shared Drives, we are looking at reducing redundancy in uploading and storage with further possible integrations in the future.

 NJLA SITE IMPROVEMENTS (Q4 2023)
Many areas of njla.org are getting a redesign including frequently asked questions, member signup pages, advertising, job hotline, the front page, and forms and policies to name a few. Old and outdated pages are either being updated or archived. The menus are being reorganized to reduce visual clutter.

WHAT'S GOING TO HAPPEN (PROJECTED START DATES)
 SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY (2023)
A new social media strategy will be implemented to include regular scheduling, greater frequency, and a consistent visual appearance. Sample posts with Canva files will be made available for other libraries to download and post for important calendar dates. Possible expansions into Instagram and Mastadon.

 NJLA.ORG AND NJLAMEMBERS.ORG NEW WEBSITE (2024)
Our current plans for the website include combining njla.org and njlamembers.org into one website, built on the WordPress platform. The focus will be user-friendly navigation, better organization, and easier communication. NJLA.org will be a hub for all things important to NJLA members. Additional focus will be put into giving members of committees and sections a better way to communicate and share resources.
