Position Title: Youth Services Librarian -- Part-time, East Brunswick Public Library

schedule:    

 

24 hours per week: Sunday 11:00 am-5:00 pm,

Monday 9:00 am-3:00 pm, Tuesday 3:00 pm-9:00 pm,

Thursday 9:00 am-3:00 pm.

Flexibility to work additional shifts as needed.

functions:

A Youth Services Librarian provides professional customer service to children and adults; provides reference and reader’s advisory services; plans and produces programs for children ages 0-12; assists in department collection development; participates in community outreach; and occasional administrative tasks. A Youth Services Librarian will cross-train in the Information Services department.

required skills, knowledge, and ability:

 

A Youth Services Librarian must have a thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of modern library operation; reader interest levels; children’s and young adult literature; library system computer applications; library reference materials and research techniques; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with library customers and staff; and communicate ideas effectively both orally and in writing.

education and experience:

A Youth Services Librarian must have a Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited library school and some public library experience.

salary:

 

$31.84/hour
