- Eligible entries will be judged on effectiveness of message and persuasiveness to target audience, originality and creativity of design, and aesthetic appeal.
- Entries may originate in print or digitally. Digital PR materials may include blog posts, podcasts, videos, social media accounts, websites and more.
- Program topic and content are not criteria that will be judged, nor is the use of professional printing or design services
- Check the rubric the Honors & Awards Committee will use as a general guide in evaluating the PR and Marketing Award Nominations.
Entries will be considered in 3 divisions as specified below:
- Libraries with a total operating budget of up to $1 million
- Libraries with a total operating budget of $1 million to $4 million
- Libraries with a total operating budget over $4 million
NOTE: Total operating budget includes staff salaries.
- Branch libraries’ entries should be submitted under main library budget guidelines.
- All materials must have been produced during the nomination period: AApril 2023 - March 2024.
- Libraries may not win in the same category for two consecutive years, but they remain eligible for the other categories during that period.
- Entries not following the specified directions will be disqualified.
- Materials produced by Friends of the Library groups may be submitted in the appropriate category.
- All submissions become the property of NJLA and will not be returned.
CATEGORIES (Limit of one item per category):
- Information literature, such as a program announcement, newsletter, brochure, poster, etc.
- Public relations campaign: an ongoing, coordinated effort across multiple media to promote library initiatives. Examples include fundraising campaigns, summer reading publicity, promotion of business or local history resources, etc.
- Surprise us with your creative publicity! If you have something that doesn’t fit into a category listed above, including imaginative uses of technology and/or social media, submit it for our consideration.
Submit your nomination using the online submission form https://forms.gle/JVEJxgQX2AR52M9J8. Upload a copy of the item to be considered and a short paragraph describing how this public relations material delivered its message to the appropriate audience and produced satisfying results.
