FAQ: NJLA Group Members Area

NJLA uses the term "Group" to describe an NJLA committee, section, or task force.
Have a question about the Members Area and group emails that we didn't answer here? Send an email to office@njla.org.

Our new member site is hosted by Higher Logic and uses Single Sign On technology. This means your njla.org login information will be used to automatically log you into the Members Area.

1. Be sure you are logged into njla.org. Then, from the menu, go to Members -> Members Area to be directed to members.njla.org

2. On members.njla.org, click Log In to be automatically logged into the Members Area. You will not be prompted to enter any login information.

3. If it is your first time logging in, you will need to agree to the Terms and Conditions.

Once you are logged into the Members Area, navigate to Communities -> My Communities. You will see a list of all the groups you currently belong to.
Committee members, Task Force members, and Section leaders are all added by NJLA staff. If you were a section member before the migration (March 2025) you will need to rejoin the section as section membership did not transfer over in the migration. See next FAQ.
Once you are logged into the Members Area, navigate to Communities -> All Communities. You will see a list of the sections you are eligible to join. Click the Join button to become a member.
You will be prompted to choose how often you would like to receive e-mail messages.
  • Real Time - delivers messages as they are sent to the group. Select this if you want up-to-the-minute information.
  • Daily Digest - delivers an e-mail once per day containing a list of all messages sent to the group the previous day.
  • Opt-Out - if you opt-out of receiving e-mail messages, you will need to log into your group's site to read new messages.
Once you've accessed your member site, you'll see something like this.
1. Discussions is where all your group's discussions will live. Discussions and e-mail threads are interchangeable. A discussion sends an e-mail to the group, and sending an e-mail to the group creates a discussion thread.
2. Library accessed through this menu takes you to your group's private file storage. Some folders have already been set up for you. Place any documents that will be used year-after-year into the Evergreen Documents folder. Examples of files that should live in this folder are section bylaws, leadership transition documents, and master lists that are added to each year.
Drop files that are specific to the current fiscal year into the appropriately labeled folder. Examples of items that should live in the yearly folders are campaign text and graphics, brainstorm documents, registration lists, etc.
3. Blogs are where you can share news with other NJLA members! No more will we need to cross post in other sections' e-mail lists! Share your announcements here.
4. Meeting Schedule will take you to your groups next meeting details in the njla.org calendar. If you do not see "Meeting Schedule" but instead see "Submit your Meeting Schedule", this means your group has not submitted their meeting schedule to the NJLA office. Click the link to be taken to the form to have your Meeting Schedule added to the NJLA calendar. All committees and sections must have their meetings listed on the NJLA calendar.
5. Upload Minutes - all committees and sections are required to make their meeting minutes publicly accessible. To upload your minutes, click the quick link or select Minutes from the top level menu bar. Select your group, select the current year's folder and Create Entry to upload your minutes.
6. Announcements - In this area you'll find your group's e-mail address. Note that you must be a member of the group to send emails to the group address and the e-mail address you are sending from must match your njla.org e-mail address.
You may not see your group listed for one of two reasons.
  1. If you are committee member, task force member, or section leader and your membership is current, please e-mail office@njla.org. These members are added by the office staff.
  2. It is possible your membership has expired. Because our member site is directly tied into our member database, expired members will be unable to access groups or send/receive group emails. If your membership has expired, you can renew your membership in your Member Compass area.
To safeguard against intruders spamming your inbox, the sender must be authenticated. You can only send emails to the distribution list if you are a member of the group AND your sending e-mail address matches the e-mail address in your njla.org profile.
