Are you a creative, community-minded librarian ready to make a big impact? The Saddle Brook Free Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Youth Services Librarian to lead engaging programs, connect with families, and inspire young minds from toddlers to teens. The Youth Services Librarian, under the supervision of the Library Director, is responsible for all activities and services assigned to the Youth Services Department.

What You’ll Do:

  • Plan, promote, and present dynamic, inclusive programs for children, teens, and their families – ensuring activities are welcoming, adaptable, and engaging for participants of all abilities, learning styles, and backgrounds.

  • Build strong relationships with local schools, community organizations, and families to extend the library’s reach beyond our walls.

  • Create engaging social media posts, flyers, and other promotional content to highlight programs and services.

  • Develop and maintain an inviting, inclusive, and creative youth space.

  • Curate inclusive and engaging children’s and teen collections through the selection of materials and thoughtful collection maintenance. 

  • Provide excellent reader’s advisory and reference services to all ages, with a special focus on youth and their caregivers.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure innovative, responsive, and equitable library services.


What We’re Looking For:

  • MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program.

  • NJ State Professional Librarian Certification (or ability to obtain).

  • Passion for working with children and teens, and a genuine desire to inspire a love of reading and learning.

  • Experience in program planning, outreach, and/or community engagement.

  • Strong communication skills, both in-person and online.

  • Creativity, flexibility, and a sense of fun.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in youth programming, with an understanding of how to adapt services to meet a variety of needs, including those of neurodiverse children.

  • Comfort with technology and social media platforms.

Compensation & Schedule:

Salary: $64,022


Full-time position (35 hour work week plus 1 hour unpaid meal break). Schedule includes 

evenings and weekends.


Position includes health benefits and paid sick, vacation and personal time. The Library participates in the NJ State pension system.
