Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The Westwood Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Children’s Librarian to join our team serving children in grades K–5. This position works closely with the Young Adult Librarian to ensure a smooth transition between age groups and to develop joint programs and outreach efforts. Programming is a central part of this role and we are looking for someone who enjoys creating and leading engaging, educational, and fun programs for kids.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and lead innovative programs for children in grades K–5, including storytimes, crafts, STEAM activities, book clubs, and seasonal events.

Collaborate with the Young Adult Librarian on joint programs and outreach initiatives.

Provide reader’s advisory and reference services for children and their caregivers.

Assist with children’s collection development, displays, and space maintenance.

Build and maintain strong relationships with local schools and community partners.

Contribute to major library initiatives such as summer reading, special events, and school outreach.

Promote programs and services through social media and library marketing platforms.

Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging atmosphere in the children’s area.
Qualifications:

MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited program.

Candidates who have completed at least 18 credits toward their MLIS will also be considered.

Experience developing and leading children’s programs in a library, school, or similar setting.
