Position Title:  Library Aide/Page

 

Position Class:  Support Position

 

Salary Range: Shall be consistent with minimum wage and above, commensurate with experience.

 

Position Requirements:

  1. Shall be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  2. Shall demonstrate reliability and responsibility.
  3. Shall be able to read English.
  4. Shall be able to count and understand numerical systems.
  5. Shall be able to take direction and work without constant supervision.

Position Summary:  Performs a variety of support services, primarily shelving and processing books and other items in the collection.

 

Special Working Conditions:

Work is performed primarily while standing in order to shelve books in their proper order.  Physical exertion is required to lift 25 lbs of materials from overhead and the floor.  The employee must bend, crouch, kneel, and stretch to reach books on high and low shelves.  Sufficient vision is required to read book labels.  Some work is done sitting, such as processing new items for the collection.

 

Duties:

  1. Shelving books, audio visual and other Library materials.
  2. Shelf reading to maintain the collection in proper order.
  3. Technical processing of all new library materials, including covering and labeling.
  4. Maintaining the community bulletin board.
  5. Packaging library materials for shipment to other libraries via the statewide delivery system.
  6. Shall assist supervisors with special projects.

 

 

Library Aides shall be under the supervision of the Adult Services Librarian or the Children’s Librarian.
