Library Director - Phillipsburg Free Public Library
Job Description:
The Library Board of Trustees of Phillipsburg Free Public Library is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Library Director. The Library serves the 15,400 residents of the Town of Phillipsburg and employs a staff of six full time and eleven part time employees. The Director’s responsibilities include supervising staff, preparing and managing the budget, developing the library collection, overseeing building maintenance, working with community partners, fundraising, and strategic planning.
The position requires an MLS from an ALA-accredited graduate program and at least five years of professional library experience, two years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity.
The successful applicant will have excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge of integrated library systems and of other technological developments in the library field, experience with budget preparation, knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, ability to work effectively with staff, Trustees, Town government, and community leaders. Experience in collection development is a must. A record of successful grant writing and/or fundraising is highly desirable. Candidate must pass a criminal background check.
To comply with the New Jersey First Act, the successful candidate must reside in the state of New Jersey within one year of appointment.
