Job Description:

Title:               Part-Time Research Support Librarian (Morning)

The Part-Time Research Support Librarian (Academic Specialist) will play a key role in delivering information literacy instruction for General Education and other academic programs. This position also involves providing research support to Kean University’s undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty and staff, through scheduled appointments and reference services delivered in person, by phone, and online via video conferencing, LibChat, and LibAnswers. Additional professional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

 

The scheduled work hours for this part-time position (up to 15 hours per week) will be weekdays 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and may include weekend hours.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Master of Library and Information Science Degree from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited school of Librarianship.

Required Professional Skills

  • Experience providing information literacy instruction in a library
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse and fast-paced environment
  • Works well independently or as part of a group
  • Dependability in following schedules and procedures



Preferred Professional Skills

  • Experience providing reference and research assistance in a library
  • Experience with in-person and virtual reference modalities
  • Fluency in English and Spanish

 

 

Salary Range or Hourly Wage

$25/hour - $35/hour
