PT Library Assistant, Multi Departmental - West Caldwell Public Library

Job Description:

West Caldwell Library is seeking a detail oriented, self-directed, customer service driven, outgoing individual to join our team. As the first point of contact it is imperative that our candidate be friendly, confident, and possess the ability to adapt and respond to different daily tasks and interactions.

Our ideal candidate will be creative and flexible with a positive attitude. Previous library experience and familiarity with LEAP is a plus. 

Responsibilities:

Checking in, checking out and renewing items.

Answering telephones and general library questions.

Registering new patrons and renewing library cards.

Retrieving materials from the drop box.

Packing and unpacking deliveries.

Shelving and shelf-reading, as needed.

Assisting patrons of all ages locate items in the library.

Able to bend, reach and lift boxes up to 30lbs.

Assisting at the Reference and Children’s desks as needed.

Other duties as assigned.

A team player who works well with others and contributes to a positive work atmosphere.

An organized self-starter who can manage tasks independently while remaining flexible.

Ability to multitask, handle interruptions, and prioritize effectively.

High attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Flexibility and willingness to adapt to different tasks.

Basic computer proficiency is a must.

Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.

Prior library experience is a plus.
