PT Reference Librarian, The Morristown & Morris Township Library

Are

The
Morristown & Morris Township Library is seeking a friendly, customer
service-oriented person to join our creative and dedicated staff as an Adult
Services Librarian. The person in this position will aid our patrons
through, readers’ advisory, reference services, tech help, and occasional outreach
efforts and public programming.
Do
you enjoy working with the latest technology?
Our
Reference and Adult Services department is responsible for educating our public
on various technological software and devices, as well as using various
databases, a new library catalog, consortial app, and other software. The
candidate may also contribute to editing the Library’s website, post to social
media accounts, and send out eBlasts to our patrons. The person in this
position helps in following current trends in library technology and making
recommendations on new technologies of value to the Library.

you like shopping? Do you enjoy working with a large and diverse
collection of electronic and print collection material?
The
Library has a great collection of about 250,000 volumes that also includes
strong holdings of ESL materials, Spanish, and Russian language collections as
well as museum passes and our popular Library of Things. The person in this
position will be expected to provide input on ordering print fiction and
various eBooks and eAudiobooks for the Library.

What
is the Library looking for in a candidate?
In
addition to having a Master’s Degree in Library or Information Science and a
background in the methods, practices and operations involved in a public
library, the ideal candidate will be committed to exemplary customer service;
have creative ideas and dedication to community outreach; robust collection
development skills. Fluency in Spanish is also highly desirable. We will
consider students currently enrolled and working toward their MLS/MLIS degree
for this position.
What
are the perks for working at the Library?
This
is a part-time position averaging 6-7 hours per week that includes some weekday
evenings (scheduled with the candidate) and every other Sunday. The starting salary is $26.50/hr. with a time-and-a-half
rate of pay on Sundays. The position includes a pension (DCRP through the State benefits
system), some paid holidays, and sick time. Added
