Position Title: Reference Librarian/Archivist  (Full Time)



About the
Position:



Join the management team at the
Atlantic City Free Public Library as the Reference Librarian/Archivist and help
provide responsive services to our vibrant and diverse community!



This
position performs work responsibilities under the general direction of the
Library Director. This position has a degree of independence and will make
customer services decisions, scheduling changes and work assignments based on
library policy and best judgment. The Reference Librarian/Archivist functions
as a “person-in-charge” and has a high level of responsibility.



 



Major Duties:



·        
Providing
professional library services to the general public



·        
Manage
and supervise the Help Desk, two computer labs, including grant programs, archive,
and Atlantic City Historical Museum including staff, interns, and volunteers.



·        
Answer research questions and provide in-depth assistance to
patrons in person, online, or via phone



·        
Handles patron complaints and escalations



·        
Guide patrons in using library and archival resources, including
databases, catalogs, and primary source materials



·        
Select and evaluate materials for the library's reference and
archival collection (print, digital, specialized, archival)



·        
Organize and preserve archival collections, including
appraising, processing, cataloging, and creating finding aids



·        
Oversee digitization projects and ensure digital preservation



·        
Coordinates exhibit research and co-curates’ installations for
the Atlantic City Historical Museum



·        
Develop and deliver instructional sessions and workshops on
information literacy, research methods, and archival research



·        
Promote library and archival services and resources through
outreach activities and events



·        
Participate in collaborative projects and departmental
initiatives



·        
Stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in
library and archival science. 



·        
Attends library training, workshops,
conferences and other continuing education related to reference services and
archives as approved by the Library Director.



 



Qualifications:



MLS or MLIS from an ALA accredited
institution, two years of recent library and archival experience and a
Professional Librarian certificate issued by the State of New Jersey. Must have
a valid New Jersey Driver’s License.



This person must have a strong
knowledge of current library technologies and demonstrated experience using
technology and digital resources. Excellent customer service and communication
skills are essential.



This is a full-time 35 hours a week
position, Saturdays, and some evenings are required. Salary range: $62,395.00 $66,514.00.
