- To explore effective methodology to demonstrate and teach about the use of archives and special collections
- To conduct activities to increase visibility and demonstrate the value of archives and special collections across New Jersey’s academic institutions
- To foster cooperative efforts in sharing information about and access to archives and special collections among NJLA member libraries
- To gather and make available the names of archives and special collections consultants and experts in New Jersey
- To offer continuing education, scholarship, and professional development opportunities for archivist and special collections librarians
- To provide a forum for members to share information and explore common issues faced by archives and special collections in academic libraries
topics of assessment, evaluation, and statistics collection/analysis. It seeks to identify best practices in quantitative
and qualitative assessment methodologies for libraries, as well as fostering professional development among its
members and among the library community at large through developed programs and event.
Metadata Committee shares and explores common and challenging issues faced by the technical services
cataloging/metadata librarians in the academic and research libraries in the state of New Jersey. To achieve this
mission, the Committee has the following goals:
- To share information and explore challenging issues in cataloging/metadata, bibliographic control,
authority control, database management and staff training - To provide technical and moral support to members within its ability in the field of
cataloging/bibliographic control - To provide members with opportunities in continuing education and professional development
- To promote innovative ideas and effective measures for quality control of bibliographic and authority data
- To foster cooperative efforts in resource sharing among academic libraries in the field of
cataloging/metadata and bibliographic control
- The Electronic Resources Committee works to promote discussion and information-sharing among
members on all topic surrounding electronic resources management, including, but not limited to analysis
and harvesting of usage statistics, acquisitions of electronic resources, integration and analysis of open
access content, discovery systems, administrative portals, vendor relationships, ERM systems, and more. - The Committee aims to provide a forum for members to share information and explore common issues
faced by those working with electronic resources in academic libraries. - The Committee seeks to offer professional development, continuing education, and scholarship
opportunities for electronic resources librarians and those working with electronic resources at their
institutions.
College and University Section (CUS) of NJLA, as well as learning, communicating and sharing ideas on how to best
promote our institutions, and services. We are always looking for new members to join our group; come learn with
us what amazing things NJ academic libraries are doing!
Research Libraries and the College and University Section of the New Jersey Library Association. The function of
the committee is to publish a twice yearly newsletter which includes articles, events and other items submitted by
members, including MLIS students. We encourage sharing ideas and information among our New Jersey academic
library colleagues.

The purpose of the committee is to solicit nominees for Executive Board positions.
College and Research Libraries and the College and University Section of the New Jersey Library Association. The
function of the committee is to promote lifelong learning as an educational goal and to support the pursuit of
excellence in library user education programs and reference interactions. Reference services and user education
overlap as both of these areas share the goal for users to have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use information
effectively. To achieve this goal, the committee produces professional development programs on enhancing
reference services and teaching and learning in libraries. Additionally, the committee disseminates information about
information literacy, user education and reference services, and serves as a forum for the discussion of these topics.
ACRL. We strive to promote research among librarians in the state of New Jersey. The Committee sponsors two
juried events each year.
The Research Award honors a New Jersey librarian by presenting the best published research from the previous year.
The Research Forum winners present their work-in-progress as a short talk at the Research Forum. We remain
dedicated to seeking ways to support and encourage sharing information about research projects on a wide variety of
topics.
