Professional Bio

Mary Fran has worked in libraries since 2004 at public schools and public libraries in the areas of circulation, youth services, and administration. She believes libraries are a transformational opportunity made possible by the diverse and delicate ecosystem of library resources and library workers who curate knowledge and share it with any person every day. Her technology adventures have included teaching colleagues to use a mouse and helping children program robots. She managed a complete renovation of 17,000 square feet of library without closing for business. Feel free to write that on her tombstone one day. Books she has loved include Song of the Lark, The Secret of NIMH, Take Care Good Knight, Anna Karennina, Reading Makes You Feel Good, Visual Explanations, Free Lunch, Radical Candor, The Design of Childhood, Down by the Bay, If Morning Ever Comes, the Book Hog, and the Archivist. If you have a question, reach out, and she will try her best.
