Library Associate – Youth Services Department

The
Plainfield Public Library seeks a bilingual part-time Library Associate for the
Youth Services Department. This 24 hour/week position includes
afternoon/evening hours and a Saturday rotation, with a pay rate of $25/hour.

Summary:

Under the
supervision of the Head of Youth Services, the Library Associate plans and
implements programs for children and teens, including storytimes, crafts, STEAM
activities, and more. The role involves interacting with the community,
assisting patrons, and maintaining a welcoming environment. Candidates
should be good listeners and communicators, present positive attitude, enjoy
working cooperatively as a team member, and place top priority on customer
service.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver children's
      programs, including storytimes, crafts, and displays.
• Assist teens, children, and
      caregivers with library resources and services.
• Represent the library at
      outreach events.
• Provide library services at the
      desk, via email, and phone.
• Create booklists and book
      displays.
• Perform other duties as
      assigned.

Skills
& Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required
      (MLIS students encouraged to apply).
• Experience working with teens,
      children, and families.
• Exceptional customer service
      and teamwork abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft
      Office; adaptable to new technologies.
• Flexibility to work evenings,
      weekends, and additional hours as needed.
• Bilingual (Spanish)
      required.
