Job Description:

Cumberland County Library, located in Southern New Jersey, seeks an energetic and creative Library Director.

Duties: The Director reports to a five-member Library Commission and is responsible for library planning, personnel, the annual budget, public relations, state reporting, the physical needs of the library building and the development of library services. The Director works closely with the Cumberland County Government and works cooperatively with other public libraries in the Login library network. Supervises a staff of 12 full-time equivalents.

 

Requirements and experience:

  • MLS and NJ Public Librarian Certification
  • Five (5) years in a management or administrative capacity in a public library.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Thorough knowledge of principles and practices involved in the operation of a public library
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to utilize current social media tools
  • Excellent planning and organization skills
  • Knowledge of current library technologies
  • Ability to advocate for the library’s goals and programs
  • Experience and knowledge with grant-writing
  • Ability to promote library services through a variety of community relations outlets

 

Starting salary: $70,000
