Paraprofessional -- Communications Coordinator
Under the supervision of the Library Director, and in collaboration with the Programming and Outreach Librarian, the paraprofessional takes the lead in developing and circulating program publicity. They are skilled in graphic design platforms, such as Canva, and can work efficiently under time constraints. The paraprofessional serves as a bridge between the reference and circulation staff, providing excellent customer service, performing collection development and maintenance, technical services and technical duties. They must be computer literate, organized, detail oriented and customer-service focused with the knowledge to explain library policies. They perform other related duties as assigned, including participation in staff meetings and regularly scheduled desk slots. They demonstrate a commitment to sustainable workplace and professional practices.
Specific job duties include:
Publicity: Coordinates all library publicity including print media, social media, library newsletters and annual reports. Schedules, promotes, and produces flyers and posters for programs and library related events for adults.
Community Rooms: Responsible for all community room bookings by outside organizations.
Information Desk: Handles information desk responsibilities such as providing directional support to patrons, answering basic reference questions, referring patrons to appropriate departments, providing back-up support at the circulation desk, and assisting with opening and closing routines.
BCCLS Deliveries: Unpacks, organizes incoming consortium deliveries and packs outgoing material.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Scheduling:
Library scheduling requires one evening per week and Saturday hours.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills
- Expertise with Canva and other graphic design tools
- Ability to regularly bend, lift, push and pull up to 25 lbs of books and other materials
Salary Range: $51,465.46 - $53,107.35, with benefits
