Head of Adult Services - Moorestown Library

Job Description:

The
Moorestown Library is seeking a dynamic and creative individual for their Head
of Adult Services.  The successful
candidate will be responsible for the management of adult services.  The Head of Adult Services will coordinate
with other library staff to provide a robust schedule of programs, services,
events and classes for library patrons and the community of Moorestown.  As a part of the library management team,
this person will participate in planning, policy development and special
projects. 

Responsibilities

·        
Supervise,
schedule, train and evaluate professional and paraprofessional staff working in
the areas of Adult Services.

·        
Support
the Head of Circulation in supervising Circulation staff and volunteers.

·        
Prepare
statistics, reports, and grants related to Adult Services.

·        
Staff
Adult Services desk as needed.

·        
Provide
reference and reader’s advisory guidance to patrons. 

·        
Maintain
knowledge of the automated circulation system and assist with circulation
tasks, as needed. 

·        
Participate
in developing and maintaining the adult collection.

·        
Develop,
coordinate, schedule, promote and conduct a variety of adult programming which
address community interests and educational needs. 

·        
Regularly
monitor adult programming initiatives, programs, and services; evaluate impact
and provide analysis and advice that contributes to the ongoing development of
adult programming. 

·        
Manage
available program and/or project resources, develop budgets, track spending,
and provide reports as needed.

·        
Help
create an inter-departmental Program Team to assist in the development of
strategic goals and library-wide programming.

·        
Maintain
relationships with community groups, arts organizations, and professional
library groups.

·        
Participate
in professional library organizations to remain informed on trends in library
services and attend continuing education workshops and conferences.

Qualifications

·        
A
master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited program.

·        
Public
Library experience

·        
Minimum
3 years management experience including supervising, leading, and delegating
tasks and authority. 

·        
Strong
customer service skills.

·        
History
of successful project management.

·        
Excellent
written and oral communication skills. 

Hours:

This is a full-time
(35 hours a week) position with rotating weekend days required.

Compensation
Range:

$72,000-80,000
commensurate with experience.

This position provides a
