Part-time Library Assistant - Roseland Free Public Library

Job Description:

Roseland Free Public Library is looking for a part-time Library Assistant to join our dynamic team.

The Library Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of services, including, but not limited to: greeting patrons as they enter the Library; checking in/out materials; shelving and organizing materials; registering patrons for accounts and resolving account concerns; assisting patrons to locate items in the Library collections; assisting patrons with basic computer/printing needs; and assisting with library programming of all ages. This position will work closely with the Head of Circulation to ensure the collection is maintained and building tasks are completed in a timely manner.

Experience running a book club is desirable: we are looking for a new host for our monthly book club, so if it is of interest to you, please share your interest and experience.

This is a part-time position; 12-17 hours per week, and may include evenings and Saturdays.

Applicants must be available to work as much as three (3) 4-hour shifts between the hours of 9 am and 8 pm Monday through Thursday, 9 am - 5 pm on Friday. Those shifts could include weeknights (4-8pm).

In addition, we also require at least one Saturday (10 am - 3 pm) a month.

Experience working in BCCLS libraries is desirable, although not necessary. Minimum high school diploma, but college and previous experience preferred. Excellent customer service skills, willingness to learn, flexibility, and the ability to work as a team member are a must.

Hourly rate of $16.58 per hour.
